The Cora Spa, Chalkidiki, Greece (2022- 2023)

Our project in Chalkadiki, Greece for the Cora Hotel & Spa Resort included structural re-design of the Spa, functional build support and cost-control focused project management. We are currently retained on an Operational Management basis to get the Spa flying and deliver budget success.

The Savoia Spa, Cortina, Italy (2020-2021)

A new concept and design, new branding, new operational flow – together with BeWellWorks.com we delivered inside a tight timeframe (alongside Covid19!) and to budget a whole new commercially successful concept to the Grand Hotel Savoia in Cortina D’Ampezzo. We were retained on an Executive Support basis for the first 6 months to deliver 5* training standards, strong process, and budget success.

Aquavitae Spa, Principe di Lazise, Garda, Italy (2020-2023)

Retained on an Executive Management basis to refresh and relaunch the Spa operation as it moved in-house.  By creating strong SOPs, new sales channels in the local market, new pricing, simplified Spa menu and Spa more efficient operating process we achieved budgets in 2021 & 2022, and by furthering this, and adding a new Spa software system we expect strong growth again in 2023.

The Spa at No15, Bath, UK (2020-2021)

A refurbishment of a Boutique Hotel Spa in central Bath, with complicated planning and layout limitations. We have delivered a new concept, linked to the style of the hotel and future aspirations of the ownership, and with significant commercial increase.

The Spa at The Midland, Manchester, UK (2014-2015)

With full space design, architect liaison and operational start-up, we were tasked to project manage and deliver this multi-award winning project in central Manchester, within The Midland Hotel. We were additionally responsible for Spa Director recruitment, pre-opening training, ongoing budget, fitness membership and ongoing commercial success. The Spa received 22 awards within its first 5 years.

Sani Resort – Halkidiki, Greece (2010)

CTC Intl worked on operational design control, pre-opening equipment listings and budget advice for the Sani Beach Hotel, and Porto Sani Resort Spas.

Paris, France (2008-2010)

One of the five 5* ‘Palace Hotels’ of Paris, CTC Intl was responsible for the reopening after a Spa expansion, initiating the first true Spa sales and marketing programme and increasing revenues by over 20%.

Resort Provence, France (2007-2008)

Operational pre-opening of the Spa, and the follow-on consultancy work. Imaginative residential packages were created to develop the multiple Spa visit mentality, where the average guest stay was over 3 days.  This was supported by a local membership concept.

Powerscourt, Dublin, Ireland (2007-2008)

Charlie delivered the hotel-based operational training and was retained to setup the ongoing management contract process.  The Spa sales focused on both hotel capture and also an exclusive membership concept.

Bvlgari Hotel, Milan (2006-2007)

Operational audits and service reviews conducted, including use of mystery guest techniques. Charlie Thompson installed an achievable set of operational procedures, and coupled this with well-timed technical training to improve mystery guest results.

Northern Ireland (2006 – 2008)

The first luxury Resort Spa location in Northern Ireland, Charlie Thompson’s work was focussed on the education of not only the hotel and spa teams but also (with a strong PR campaign) of the local market.  There was a mixed offering of Day Spa, Health Club membership and Spa residential packages.

Cork, Ireland (2006 – 2008)

With the task of creating Spa leisure business in this corporate hotel, and operating under a management contract, Charlie Thompson linked the newly built Spa and Leisure areas to become an integral part of the 4* hotel offering. Strategic sales plans for membership and local market Spa packages were created, trained and established with new (at the time) technology.

Lebanon (2005 – 2006)

Charlie Thompson provided a bi-annual Spa management audit, from which the Spa strategy for this 5* hotel was based. The audits represented excellent value for money from a lower investment in time, and would incorporate operational training for all front office teams as well as the written report.

Windsor, UK (2002 – 2005)

The Spa and Health Club had been open for 3 months before Charlie’s services were retained on a short contract to fix a problem-filled operation. After the €30k monthly loss was eliminated, his services were taken full-time. Uniquely, a fire in autumn 2003 gave requirement to project manage a re-build and re-open the Spa again within this prestigious and historical 4* hotel.

Dubrovnik, Croatia (2003 – 2005)

A Dalmatian coastal Spa concept was created inside The Dubrovnik Palace Hotel, including all sales and procurement. The subcontracting of the operational management and training of hotel teams completed the pre-opening work, and the project was notable for being the first genuine 5* hotel spa opening in Croatia.
